Born and raised in Wisconsin, Capt. Mike served nearly seven years in the U.S. Air Force before settling in Tampa Bay, where he has been guiding anglers on Florida’s west coast for over two decades. His specialties include backcountry fishing charters targeting tarpon, snook, redfish, and trout, as well as customized inshore and nearshore trips for both seasoned anglers and beginners.
Beyond guiding, Capt. Mike is a familiar voice and face in the fishing community. He hosts Reel Animals Saturday on AM970 WFLA and co-hosts the TA Mahoney Co. Reel Animals Radio Show on AM620 WDAE, where he has been sharing fishing expertise on the airwaves for over 20 years. He also reaches a national audience as host of the Reel Animals Fishing Show TV series, which airs in more than 60 million households across major networks like Sportsman Channel, World Fishing Network, Bally Sports Sun, and MOR-Tampa.
Dedicated not just to the sport but to the lifestyle, Capt. Mike is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys teaching techniques, educating new anglers, and making every trip a memorable adventure. When he’s not on the water with clients, he can often be found fishing with his wife Beth, daughters Rachel and Georgia, son-in-law Logan, and his three grandkids.
