Solid week of inshore fishing with a bit of nearshore action mixed in. The inshore bite has been pretty good despite the wind, with plenty of trout, tripletail, jacks, and bluefish, plus a few snook on live bait. Earlier in the week and over the weekend, lighter winds made for a strong nearshore bite, producing good numbers of bluefish, mackerel, weakfish, and blacktip sharks.
The pompano bite has tapered off some with the warmer water and dirtier conditions. As the week went on, the wind really picked up and has been relentless, making bait harder to find and fishing more challenging overall. On the bright side, water temps are up, and the snook bite in the lagoon has improved as long as bait is present.
Looking ahead, another front should bring some rain this week. With temperatures staying warm, that should push bait out of the freshwater creeks, raise lagoon levels, and help improve the overall bite.
