Chasing Silver, report for 6/5/26

As charter captains, we don’t build our calendars around winter, spring, summer, and fall. Around here, the seasons are measured by tides, migrations, and what’s pulling drag.

Winter means chasing Redfish on jigs in skinny water. Spring brings those big gator trout crushing topwater at first light. Summer rolls in with scallops and long runs south in pursuit of Tarpon and Snook. And fall? Fall means just about everything, on just about anything.

Now here we are in June, and the Snook and Tarpon are right on schedule.

The Snook bite has been flat-out good. We’ve been putting hands on 30 to 50 fish a day, with most running that solid 25- to 30-inch class. Live sardines have been the go-to bait, but MirrOdines and Saltwater Assassin soft plastics have been producing just as well for anglers wanting to stay artificial.

As for Tarpon… well, they’re being Tarpon.

We’re seeing schools every day in Boca Grande, but they’ve been a little particular. We’re getting bites, but earning every one of them. Those who’ve battled the Silver King know exactly what that means—and also know the reward is worth every minute of the chase.

We’ve got a few more weeks of following silver through Boca Grande before it’s time to trail them north. More on that soon.

Scallop season is right around the corner, and from the way July is shaping up, it looks like it could be a special one. We scallop some waters that few folks even know about, and the numbers are already looking strong.

If you’re ready to spend a day on the water—or maybe even in the woods—give us a call. We’re looking forward to the rest of what’s shaping up to be a fine year in old Florida.
