Blue Ridge Lake Fishing Report Sept 2025

Ahhhh Sept. Schools back in , college football kicks off, deer season starts and Blue Ridge lake is fishable again without being ran over by wake wakeboats and rental pontoons . At least for the most part . The prop shock of all the boats on this clear lake will wear off and the fish Will move onto the feeding areas that still have grass . Walleyes will move up as the lake level drops looking for these grass beds. Hiding in the grass is a great way to ambush your next meal . Small pan fish and Blue backs will be cruising these areas as well feeding on the bugs in the grass . This is when we stop trolling and start vertical fishing. Vertical presentations fished around and in these beds will draw the attention of hungry walleye. Light line is a must 8lb flouro is our go to. Lure wise I keep a variety of lures tied on . A 4″ flutter spoon , a blade bait , and a live bait jig of some sort usually a 1/8 or 1/4oz hammer head VMC live bait jig tipped with a good Ole gas station minnow . 25 to 55ft is the target zone ,follow that as the lake drops this month . If you’re not getting grass on the bait you’re in the wrong spot . Enjoy the piece and quiet ,watch out for debris as the lake drops , and we will see ya on the water .
