Weekly fishing report and forecast October 27

We have another windy week ahead of us, but the forecast looks like things should settle down as the week progresses. Despite the challenging conditions, fishing has been pretty good, with plenty of snook in the lagoon, along with a good number of redfish and some trout mixed in.

Trout numbers slowed down a bit last week, but the snook bite picked up, making for some productive days on the water. Finding clean water and locating bait along the shorelines have been the keys to success. Unfortunately, with all the choppy conditions we’ve had, spotting bait has been a challenge in many areas.

Water temperatures have cooled into the mid-70s over the past few weeks, which should help keep the fish active and improve the bite. With the full moon this week, I’d focus on the early morning and late-afternoon hours for the best opportunities.

As always, the key is finding protected water where you can get out of the wind. Look for clean water, keep an eye out for bait along the shorelines, and adjust your game plan to the conditions. Find a sheltered spot, and you should have a good week of fishing!
