Fishing around Anna Maria continues to stay productive as we move deeper into the season, with solid action both inshore and offshore depending on conditions.
Offshore and nearshore reefs have been producing well. We’re still catching good numbers of snapper along with some quality hogfish mixed in. A variety of reef species are also keeping rods bent, making for steady action on most trips. Live bait and cut bait on bottom structure have been especially effective.
We’re also still seeing kingfish around, particularly when conditions allow for a little trolling or drifting near bait schools. While numbers can vary day to day, there are enough kings around to keep things interesting.
Inshore, sheepshead are starting to show signs of moving in and should be settling into the docks, bridges, and nearshore structure any day now. This bite typically ramps up quickly once it starts and can provide excellent action for anglers looking to stay closer to shore.
Overall, the Anna Maria area continues to offer a wide mix of opportunities right now, with something available for anglers of all experience levels. As always, weather windows will dictate how far we can roam, but the fish are definitely there when conditions cooperate.
If you’re looking to get out on the water and take advantage of the current bite, now is a great time to book a trip.
