It was a windy week overall, but the fishing stayed strong despite an early-week cold front that dropped lagoon water temperatures to around 57 degrees, with 15–25 mph north winds with gusts to over 30mph for much of the week. By the weekend, winds died down and water temps climbed back up near 70 degrees, and when you found the right conditions on the incoming tide, the bite was excellent.

The flats around Sebastian Inlet produced well, with solid numbers of trout, pompano, bluefish, and jacks, along with a few flounder mixed in. The 3.5” Rapala Mooch Minnow has proven to be an outstanding bait—not just for bass, but for all inshore species I’ve been targeting.

Nearshore waters were blown out all week, and the inlet bite was slow on the incoming tides I fished, even using live bait. Another cold front is expected next week and will drop water temperatures again, but if you put in the time and stay flexible instead of chasing trophies, there are still plenty of opportunities to have a great day on the water.
